Michael Faraday's work was the topic of today. Do you know what he figured out on his own? The same thing that the American Joseph Henry figured out even before he did, namely that electric currents can be created by using magnetic fields, if changes in magnetic flux occur. Why did Faraday get all the credit? Because he published first, and he worked on what he found further and in more detail. Henry was first, but Faraday did more. Neither one knew of the work done by the other until after the fact; they worked independently.
