We worked through Assignment 3 and turned it in today after viewing the Mythbusters experiment that showed that a bullet dropped from a given height will hit the ground at the same time as a bullet fired horizontally from a gun at the same height. The point is that gravitation pulls them both downward with the same vertical acceleration, -10 m/s/s. Chapter 3 Assignment 2
Here's to a Happy 2023! We worked through some of the important quantities that help us analyze projectile motion. You should be able to identify ∆x,v0x, ∆y, v0y, ax, and ay. You should also be able to sketch a rough trajectory for a projectile described in a problem. Here's a diagram on which you should be able to find ∆x and ∆y for two different trajectories for example. Can you?
You have moved into your new dorm room. You have two friends in the dorm next door, 30 m away. One lives on a floor 10 m above you, and the other lives on a floor 20 m below you. Being an expert projectile marksman, you fling your messages to these friends by tossing your metal coffee container from your window to theirs.
Here's the handout we worked on today: Chapter 3 Assignment 1
