Transformers were the topic du jour. We should understand that transformers function because of AC current; they would not work with DC current. Can you explain why?
Transformers can step up voltage, and they can step it down. Designed so that the power put into the transformer is equal to the output power (as closely as possible, of course), if the output voltage is stepped up, then the output current is reduced by the same factor. Assignment:
