Earthquake waves, P waves and S waves, were our main focus today. We looked at the seismograms from today's magnitude 6 earthquake on Mindanao in the Philippines. The arrival of the p waves and s waves were marked for us. The seismograph that recorded the seismograms that we looked at was in Taiwan. Assignments:
Folds were the topic du jour. Symmetric, asymmetric, and recumbent folds were shown. Be able to distinguish synclines and anticlines.

We studied faults today, fractures in rock caused by one of three kinds of stress, tension, compression, or shear.

We took the test today. Tomorrow we'll deal with the effects of these moving plates, namely, earthquakes. It should be earth-shaking! Stay tuned!
We finished our work with plate tectonics for Chapter 5. We'll deal with it more as we talk about earthquakes and volcanoes in the weeks to come.
